Naeun Jeong and Hyejeong Kim secured medals for the second year in a row at the Indonesian Masters Badminton Championships.
Naeun Jeong and Hyejeong Kim defeated Indonesia’s Febi Valencia Dwijayanti Ghani-Ripka Sugiarto 2-0 in the women’s doubles quarterfinals yesterday (10th) in Jakarta, Indonesia.
In the semifinals of the last competition, Na-eun Jeong and Hye-jeong Kim, who made a stir by beating bronze medalists Kim So-young and Gong Hee-yong at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and took the silver medal, will challenge for the gold medal in this competition.
However, it seems that it will be a difficult challenge as the opponents in the semifinals are China’s Linchingchen-Zaipan, who are ranked number one in the world.
Seo Seung-jae, who competed in two events in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles event, aiming for two gold medals, continued his challenge only in mixed doubles.
Mixed doubles Seungjae Seo and Yoojung Chae defeated China’s Wang Yiru and Hwang Dongping 2-1 in the quarterfinals.
Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yoo-jung will face off against China’s Zheng Shi-wei and Hwang Ya-chung for a place in the final.
In the men’s doubles quarterfinals, where Seo Seung-jae teamed up with Kang Min-hyeok, he lost 2-1 to Heo Ji-ting and Zhou Hao-dong and failed to win a medal.
Women’s doubles Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan, who were aiming to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in four years since the 2018 competition, also stopped challenging in the quarterfinals.
