Australia wins in Chicago, the first regatta won for the French

Double reigning SailGP champion, Australia has already put its mark on season 3. After their inaugural success in Bermuda, Tom Slingsby and his teammates won the Chicago stage on Sunday. The Australians dominated Canada and Great Britain in the final to consolidate their first place in the general classification (20 pts) ahead of the Canadians (17 pts) and the British (17 pts). France finished 5e of the American stage and points to the 6e place (9 pts) overall (out of 9 teams). On Sunday, Quentin Delapierre and the Blues won their first regatta in this 3e season on the occasion of the 4e race of the day.

«It remains only one victory but it is good for everyone. I’m happy because it’s a bit what I expected to validate this energy in the team, all the work we put in placewelcomes Delapierre, skipper of the French team since last September. It’s nice to see the team taking a breather and seeing that the work is paying off and that we’re going in the right direction. We will have to manage to keep the same state of mind, whether we have good or bad days, to be able to be more consistent. Next step on July 30 and 31 in Plymouth (Great Britain).
