Argentina way too strong for Italy in battle between continental champions

On the sacred grass of Wembley and under the watchful eye of nearly 90,000 spectators, Argentina has won the battle in the Finalissima. In London it was 3-0 for the winner of the Copa América against Italy, the winner of last summer’s European Championship.

The match between the champions of Europe and that of South America was the third meeting between the two continental champions. In 1985 European champions France won the first edition by beating Uruguay 2-0. At the second edition in 1993, Copa América winner Argentina was too strong for Denmark after penalties.

The match will be played at least three times. The European champions of 2024 and 2028 will also cross swords with the best team in South America.
