All-Star Game Vote: Vlad Jr. and Blue Jays Prominent

First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is one of three Toronto Blue Jays players leading their respective positions in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game ballot.

In the American League, the offspring of former Montreal Expos star Vladimir Guerrero leads his competition with 947,045 votes. His closest pursuer is Ty Frances (596,030) of the Seattle Mariners. Among receivers, Alejandro Kirk has an excellent chance of ending up in the classic by virtue of his 1,057,008 votes, significantly more than the harvest of Jose Trevino (387,983), of the New York Yankees. For his part, Bo Bichette is embroiled in a fierce battle at shortstop. With 585,744 votes, he holds a low priority over Tim Anderson (528,278) and Xander Bogaerts (525,202), of the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox respectively.

Moreover, at second base, Santiago Espinal amassed 522,154 votes and is the closest rival to Jose Altuve (710,708), of the Houston Astros. In all of major league baseball, Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge got the most votes, more than 1,500,000.

The identity of the players who finished in the first two places in each position, both in the National and in the American, will be revealed on June 30. These athletes will advance to the second phase of the vote which will determine the starters of each formation. These will be known on July 8 and the rest of the teams two days later. The game will take place on July 19 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
