A triumph for Andrea Furegato. The center-left candidate, just turned 25, a bank clerk, the second youngest in the history of the city (after Andrea Cancellato, elected at 24 in 1980) to hold the office of mayor of Lodi. Excited and understandably satisfied, Furegato won in the first round with 55% of the votes on the outgoing mayor, the Northern League player Sara Casanova (45%), who already called the challenger to congratulate him around 16.30 on Monday. In total, just over 56% of those entitled to vote in Lodi, about 19 thousand voters out of almost 39 thousand.

The new mayor, supported by a coalition made up of civic lists and the 5 Star Movement, was welcomed, on Monday afternoon, in the electoral headquarters of Albarola by cheering supporters. In the capital, therefore, an exponent of the center-left returns to governafter the two consecutive mandates, from 2005 to 2012, of Lorenzo Guerininow Minister of Defense, and after Simone Uggettithe last dem mayor, elected in 2013, who ended his mandate in August 2016 after being arrested for auction disruption.
