Vitesse and Openda still hand over European ticket after pandoering against AZ | Eredivisie

Vitesse and AZ had completed their first leg in the Conference League playoff on Thursday. In it, Lois Openda was – as so often this season – match winner, with an assist and the winning goal deep in the end of the match.

With a 2-1 starting position, Vitesse had to try to hold on to that lead in Alkmaar, but things soon went completely wrong for Openda and co. Pavlidis opened the score after just three minutes and Reijnders added another ten minutes later.

Vitesse was excited and faced a difficult afternoon. De Wit, Reijnders again and twice Karlsson completed the punishment. Bazoer was able to score the honor saver for Vitesse in between.

Openda and Vitesse therefore do not see their season rewarded with a European gift. Just like Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV and Twente, AZ is allowed to enter Europe.
