Vacation is still a long way off for many RB players. They are with their national teams in the ominous Nations League. For Emil Forsberg, Swedish international, this leads to a summer that is reduced to 14 days of hanging out and relaxing.
It goes very fast
The early start of the league due to the World Cup in Qatar this winter means a short summer for all European professionals. So free time is scarce, and that also applies to the preparation time, which begins at the end of June for the cup winner. Then it goes to the training camp – and then with the obligatory preparation program blow by blow.
We have put together the most important dates for you:
Training starts on June 26th at Cottaweg. Then the “Red Bulls” go to the training camp in Austria. After years in Seefeld and once in Saalfelden, this time it’s off to Aigen im Emmstal in Styria (July 10th to 17th). Towards the end of the boot camp there will be a test match, the opponent has not yet been determined.
Two weeks later the new season starts with the Supercup between RB Leipzig, the cup winner, and the German champion FC Bayern Munich. The game will take place in the Leipzig Arena. The date is July 30, kick-off 8:30 p.m.
Group stage draw
Just one week later, the Bundesliga starts with the first day of the game. The individual games will be determined in June, the starting weekend is August 5th to 7th.
The games of the first round of the DFB Cup involving the Saxons will then take place on August 30th and 31st. The first round without the participation of the Bundesliga teams will take place from July 29th to August 1st.
The third competition RB is involved in is the Champions League. The first match day of the group phase takes place on 6./7. held in September. Before that, there are still qualifying games for the remaining places. The group stage will be drawn on August 25th.
It is still unclear whether the friendly match with Liverpool agreed four years ago when Naby Keita changed. It was planned years ago, but two summer pandemics prevented the game. The target is July 23rd, the game will take place in Leipzig.
