“There was no doubt that the first post-Messi season was going to be a drama” believes Stoichkov

The 1994 Golden Ball returned to the FC Barcelona season in an interview with the Spanish media Sport.

Passed by FC Barcelona between 1990 and 1998, Hristo Stoitchkov who now lives in Miami returned to FC Barcelona’s season, the first without Lionel Messi. “There was no doubt that the first post-Messi season was going to be a tragedy but, with the club broke, it came close to tragedy. But has Barça ceased to exist without Messi? No, it’s not, is it?” he says in an interview for Sport.

The former Bulgarian international (83 caps) also mentioned the dismissal of his former teammate Ronald Koeman who left the FC Barcelona bench last October. “I saw him suffer too much. It’s a myth and you have to deal with the myths. He had no players. That’s a shame.” believes Stoitchkov who wants Xavi to be given time.
