The Utah Jazz would trade Rudy Gobert before Donovan Mitchell

As the Utah Jazz continue to be plagued by numerous rumors pointing to the offseason, public scrutiny has centered around the future of the team’s two biggest stars, Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.

Despite all the speculation that has surrounded the stellar duo, information shared a little over a week ago by the journalist from Bleacher ReportJake Fischer, pointed out that the management will try to extend the project for at least one more year, driven by the imminent celebration of the All-Star Weekend 2023 in the city of Salt Lake City. And that would include both the heavyweights on the roster and coach Quin Snyder, who has also hinted at continuing him.

However, should the situation worsen to the point of becoming insurmountable, the franchise would be very clear on how to proceed. According to information shared by Deseret News y Sports Illustrated, the Jazz would bet on continuing hand in hand with Mitchell, with Gobert being transferred. In fact, the middle ESPN and the journalist Marc Stein shared information that suggested the future bet on the shooting guard as soon as the elimination of the Jazz at the hands of Dallas in the first round of the playoffs was confirmed.

From both media they affirm that the Salt Lake City franchise would expect to receive a package made up of several players and rounds of the draft in exchange for the French international. However, another report from AND previously noted that Gobert’s value would not be as high as what would be expected for an All-Star player and three-time Defender of the Year.

Thus, everything indicates that the road map of the Jazz offices points to maintaining their heavy core. In case of transfers, these would affect players like Bojan Bogdanovic, Mike Conley and Royce O’Neale, a hypothetical situation that several media have echoed in recent weeks.

Also, Justin Zanik, Danny Ainge and the team at scouting of the Jazz is in Chicago to attend the NBA Draft Combine. And, apparently, they will face this appointment as if they had some round of the draft – they have no pickneither in the first nor in the second round—, so it is very possible that they will try to close some operation that will give them back a selection and thus be able to recruit new talent on June 23, the date on which the event will be held.
