The final tournament of the Latvian Youth Basketball League for U-17 boys (born in 2005) took place in Valmiera over the weekend, where Ventspils Spars (Coach Jānis Zemels) became the winner in the final.
Ventspils residents won BJBS “Riga / A.Krauklis VEF BS” in the final with the result 79:69. In the final game, Toms Markuss Salnājs from Ventspils scored 24 points and won 14 balls and was recognized as the most valuable player. Rūdis Donis was included in the tournament’s top five talents.
In the quarterfinals, our team won Salaspils with 79:69, and in the semifinals with 78:54 home team Bertāns Valmiera Basketball School team.
The team consisted of Everts Riekstins, Kristers Friedenbergs, Renarts Ruskulis, Pēteris Alkšbirze, Janeks Tolks, Samuelis Bondars, Markuss Liepiņš, Salvis Garančs, Niks Wilsons, Adrians Visockis-Rubenis, Toms Markuss Salnājs and Rūdis Donis. Coach Jānis Zemels.
The final tournament for the girls of the U-15 group (born in 2007) took place in Ventspils, where our girls team, led by coach Roberts Prūša, won the 4th place. In the semi-finals our girls gave way to the team of Bertāns Valmiera Basketball School with 24:31, but they play for the 3rd place with 61:68 RBJSS “Rīdzene” team. Charlotte Shepte, a Spars team player, was included in the top five talent.
