The great international Judo returns to the Palabarton in Perugia, May 28th and 29th

A very demanding organizational work for the Fijlkam regional committee, chaired by Andrea Arenawho for months, together with the staff of collaborators directed by the Vice President of the Sector Robertino Camelli, he prepared everything down to the smallest detail.

Returning to the two-day competition we begin with the Grand Prix, Saturday 28 May, a competition that brings together the highest national and international athletes. From morning to evening, both male and female junior and senior classes will alternate on the tatamis set up at the Palabarton.

The next day, Sunday 29, continues with the cadet class (under 18) where the competing judokas will compete for the Fijlkam interregional Italian Cup and at the same time, for the Csen members, for the Csen Regions Trophy master Giaverina trophy.

A tribute that wants to keep the figure of the master always alive in the memory of Umbrian judo Ernesto Giaverinaunforgotten pioneer and promoter of this sport since the 1950s.

The Csen Regions Trophy, thanks to the collaboration with the sports promotion body of the national judo master Franco Penna, for the cadet class will also be divided into colored belts, to allow even the less experienced to be competitive in the competition.

A complete appointment, therefore, on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29, to get to know the discipline of judo up close, one of the most complete and widespread in the panorama of world sport.

Councilor Clara Pastorelli and Nicola Volpi speak and intervened at the press conference of the event ”The Grand Prix Judo Umbria is one of the three international events, together with tennis and Traditional Sports, which will see Perugia as a stage of excellence. We are happy to be able to host such an important event that can give prestige to our city, we want to demonstrate our closeness to the martial arts movement which is a pride of our region. Reinforcing the link with twin cities with Perugia is certainly an added value and we are sure that it will pave the way for new synergies also through the sports movement, Judo and who knows all the Fijlkam disciplines. “

The Fijlkam Regional President Andrea Arena: “It was a challenge to organize an event of this magnitude, designed in the Covid era with very restricted protocols. A constant and painstaking work carried out for months by all the regional Judo staff and the Events Team, whom I thank, work that in the end paid off by bringing to Perugia the representation record of foreign clubs that can be the springboard to make the race a must in the national and European field. I also thank the municipal and regional administration for this, always attentive for their present and future support. We will continue to commit ourselves with a smile and propose important initiatives so that our non-sporting guests make Perugia and Umbria the capital of Martial Arts with the “PUO – Umbria Olympic Project”. With this in mind, I also bring greetings from the President of Coni Domenico Ignozza engaged in the preparation of the meeting of the Umbrian sports world with Presidentissimo Malagò and with the leaders of the national Coni scheduled for mid-June. And as I always repeat, this too is a demonstration of how small Umbria is a breeding ground for great sportsmen with unique values … and more!
