The day before, two siblings had died in Hanau, the police and public prosecutor’s office are investigating suspected murder and are looking for a suspect. It is said to be the father of the seven-year-old girl and the eleven-year-old boy, but this has not yet been officially confirmed by the investigators.

The boy was found seriously injured on Wednesday morning in front of a high-rise building in downtown Hanau and died a short time later in a hospital. The officers found his sister on the balcony of the apartment on the ninth floor of the house where the children lived.

In addition to a commissioned specialist, the municipal social service (KSD) was also in contact with all family members, the city said. “There was no evidence of violence in these contacts.”

At the beginning of this week, the KSD received feedback from the commissioned institution “that the family relationship had probably deteriorated”. The KSD had therefore decided to seek dialogue again and to intervene.
