“Successful project” Team Düsseldorf continues to grow
Never before has a Düsseldorf support team stood for so much sporting diversity: 3×3 basketball, beach volleyball, field hockey, judo, athletics, rowing, skateboarding and table tennis – the eight different sports represent a record, as does the number of 23 athletes in the Düsseldorf team . Many of them are at home in sports in which there is less financial strength and training at a professional level is still necessary in order to be among the best in the world. To make this possible, D.SPORTS supports the top athletes from Düsseldorf clubs with its funding program.

“Team Düsseldorf is a successful project that enables many hard-training athletes from Düsseldorf to take part in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is a very important sign that we are supporting so many athletes from an unprecedented variety of sports today,” says Burkhard Hintzsche, city director and head of sports department of the state capital Düsseldorf. Sira Breuer, project manager of Team Düsseldorf at D.SPORTS, adds: “A look at our medal table reveals that our funding concept works very well. By taking on more athletes and other sports, we are positioning ourselves even more broadly in order to represent the sports city of Düsseldorf in the best possible way at the world’s largest sports festival in Paris in 2024.”
