Spanish Moto2 Grand Prix: Japanese Ai Ogura gets his first victory

The Japanese Ai Ogura (Kalex) has his first victory in the world championship this Sunday by beating the Spanish Moto2 Grand Prix at the “Ángel Nieto” circuit in Jerez de la Frontera, on Aron Canet (Kalex) has achieved a well-deserved podium -third-, despite competing after undergoing surgery on his left arm just a few days ago. For its part, the Girona Albert Arenas has taken ninth place.

The leader of the world, the Italian Celestino Vietti (Kalex), continues first despite finishing in sixth place in the Andalusian race, behind‘Augusto Fernandez (Kalex) and German Marcel Schrotter (Kalex).

Arón Canet (Kalex) from the second line, made an incredible start, which led him to place behind the Japanese Ai Ogura (Kalex) in the curve at the end of the straight and with Fermín Aldeguer (Boscoscuro) third, although he has lost this position to the Italian Tony Arbolino (Kalex) a little later. Peter Acosta (Kalex), who was tenth in the start, has gained a position and has been slowly regaining ground until his career has ended in turn six of the second lap, with a fall in which he almost takes ahead of Fermín Aldeguer.

Acosta has been able to get his bike back to try to continue in the race, in which Ai Ogura continued to set the pace, chased by Canet, Arbolino and the Thai Somkiat Chantra (Kalex), with Italian Celestino Vietti (Kalex) and the British Sam Lowes (Kalex), “sticking” from behind.

Canet was able to overcome the pain of his left hand, in which he was carrying infiltrations to endure the pain and has fought all the time for the race. Ai Ogura has finally won he had never won a race of the Motorcycle World Championship, despite having spent four seasons there.

Celestino Vietti has been the first victim of the pace imposed by Ai Ogura, who ended up staying more than two seconds in the seventh lap and, a turn later, in turn eight, the leader group was left without another of his members, the British Sam Lowesand has not been the last since in the ninth corner of the eighth turn what has left the race for fall was the Thai Somkiat Chantra.

Ogura has remained steadfast in his leadership, but has been pursued by Arón Canet and Tony Arbolino at all times. The race has lost two other protagonists: the British Jake Dixon (Kalex) was given a chance to change things around Fermín Aldeguer. Although he was able to start his Boscoscuro again to try to continue, a couple of laps later he had to leave for the workshop and leave.

Ogura, Canet i Arbolino they distanced themselves with the solvency of Augusto Fernández and Celestino Vietti, who were theirs immediate pursuers but more than three seconds.

This has been the general trend of the race: the trio commanding with solvency. They did it without any problems, until seven laps from the end the Japanese were able to beat Canet and open an already insurmountable path to victory.

Fourth place went to Spaniard Augusto Fernández (Kalex), ahead of Marcel Schrotter, Celestino Vietti and Dutchman Bo Bendsneyder (Kalex).

Albert Arenas (Kalex) was ninth with Jorge Navarro (Kalex) closing the list of the top ten.
