Sorare settles in the United States and seduces the Major League of Baseball

This beginning of the year will have been decisive for the young startup of fantasy football founded by Nicolas Julia and Adrien Montfort in 2018. The company, which today has 1.7 million users in 184 countries around the world, is not at its first attempt. After fundraising that made the world of French Tech blush, monthly growth of 32% in active users over the past 12 months, the entry of Serena Williams to the board of directors and the opening of a office in New York, the company is establishing itself a little further across the Atlantic with the launch this summer of the first free-to-play game based on NFTs in partnership with MLB.

A major operation for the company which is establishing itself in the American baseball marketing industry, one of the most important in the world. “The connection between Americans and baseball is strong. Baseball has always been at the forefront of new technologies and innovations. So we are proud that MLB and MLBPA (The MLB Players Association) have chosen Sorare to bring an NFT MBL game to fans around the world..”, explains the co-founder and managing director of the platform, Nicolas Julia. « MLB has been at the forefront of interactive games for decades, while baseball has some of the oldest and most established forms of sports memorabilia. Together they show just how much fans want to own the game and be a part of it..”, continues the founder.

It is to follow an ever stronger digital and technological commitment of new generations of supporters that the company supports the American league, by giving the possibility to a larger community of fans to invest in their passion and to create strong connections, with the number one hobby of Americans.

Sorare reinvents the role of the fan

Far from the collectible Panini catalog of the 1990s-2000s, Sorare is moving towards a whole new form of collection that links the world of NFTs and new technologies to the passion for sport. The free-to-play game imagined by the French team, offers enthusiasts the possibility of collecting the NFTs of their favorite players – NFTs whose value will be calculated in real time on the performance of the players on the field – while having the ability to build a team and challenge it against those of other players around the world.

« We are truly excited about our partnership and the effect Sorare’s first foray into North American sports will have on the growth of our game globally. They have created a new baseball gaming experience that will delight fans. says Tony Clark, CEO of the Major League Baseball Players Association. In addition to the fun aspect of the game and its evolution based on league performance, this new partnership with MLB offers fans a way to invest in their passion through blockchain-enabled digital assets. “The company’s goal is unique and transcends borders: to transform the fan community by innovatively combining sport, technology and gaming to empower fans to take ownership of their game prefer. This allows us to share the passion for baseball with more fans around the world.”, shares Robert D Manfred Jr, commissioner of MLB and its 30 league member clubs in the United States and Canada.

This partnership confirms Sorare’s first international step which is already planning the launch of a new collaboration with a 3ᵉ sport in the US which will be announced soon. Case to follow.
