Sorare enters baseball through home-run partnership with MLB – NW

Sorare, the impressive NFT platform for football trading cards, has ventured into the wider sporting world for the first time ever to partner with America’s Major League Baseball (MLB).

The new platform, currently dubbed “Sorare MLB NFT,” will be the first free-to-play NFT-based baseball game to simultaneously host the 11.75 million viewers of MLB to a whole new way of interacting with the sport.

Although more platform details are set to be revealed closer to the launch (which will take place in summer 2022), the game appears to be mimicking that of its ever-popular soccer counterpart. Fans are encouraged to form the best team NFT cards for MLB players as possible, which they can then share and celebrate through a playful experience. In addition, it is expected that opportunities will be provided for the community to engage with athletes and clubs during live baseball games.

MLB Players Association (MLBPA) licensing partner OneTeam enabled the landmark partnership, with its Chief Product Officer Henry Lowenfels having this to say: “We are proud to have worked with visionary partners in Sorare who have reimagined the fan experience through their NFT-based games. The partnership will bring fans even closer to the extraordinary MLB players they admire as we explore new forms of gameplay and collection.”
