PARAMARIBO – The second group of athletes and coaches to participate in the third South American Youth Games arrived in Rosario early Tuesday morning. The delegation consists of Jeffelou Koorndijk (athletics), Miracle Abdillah (badminton) and Rivano Bisphan (badminton). Gilmaar Jones (badminton) and Milton Clarke (athletics) are the trainers.

This delegation also had to make a marathon trip. Monday morning flights were made from Paramaribo to Miami and then to Buenos Aires. From the Argentine capital, a bus was driven to Rosario.

Desire Eendragt, chef de mission, received the delegation and presented the necessary matters. The delegation leader emphasized to always wear the mask and to be careful. On Monday, two athletes tested positive for the corona virus.

“It’s not going to be fun if you get infected and have to go into quarantine here. It’s two weeks here,” said Eendragt. Both branches of sport will start today. Koorndijk runs the 800 meters in Estadio Municipal Jorge Newbery two days later.

In badminton, Estadio Newell’s Old Boys immediately starts with the singles and mixed doubles components. Bisphan will compete in the boys’ singles and Abdillah in the girls’ singles. Bisphan and Abdillah will also compete in the mixed doubles.
