River’s agonizing victory against Student Porteño

El Millonario beat Porteño 78-76 at home and advanced to the playoffs, after closing the reclassification 2-0.

The start of the match was favorable to the Millionaire, who showed forcefulness in attack and took advantage of the inaccuracies of the visit. This situation gave the locals the possibility of achieving an early and important advantage. However, the visiting team’s performance went from low to high, considerably improving their offensive work with the passing of the minutes until the score was balanced. The dispute remained even, with an intense game by both teams until the end of the second quarter, in which River once again exhibited superiority and widened its difference in favor in the quarter (43-36).

The beginning of the third episode continued to be optimal for the Millionaire, who did not cease in his intentions and was solid in the collective performance, against an opponent who returned to offensive inaccuracies. However, when it seemed that a wide victory for the locals was on track, Porteño refined his level and, with it, his three-point attempts, which were essential for the recovery. As had happened before, those of Núñez went through a stage of irregularities, which was taken advantage of by the visitors.

The closure found both teams showing parity in the game, although the Millionaire remained in front of the match (this time, by a small margin). Some good offensive passes by Ramos Mejía’s team, followed by mistakes in attack by Núñez’s team, marked Porteño’s equalizer with 4 seconds left to conclude the match. However, a good play made by the locals, which included an ideal execution by Trimboli, gave River an agonizing 78-76 victory.
