Phil Mickelson se retire du PGA Championship !

Less than a week from the start of the second major of the season. Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from the PGA Championship in which he had registered. He is only the third player in history not to defend his title in this competition.

Everything suggested that Phil Mickelson would defend his title next week at the 104th edition of the PGA Championshipbut the PGA of America announced on Friday evening that the San Diego native had withdrawn from the tournament which will be played from May 19-22 at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The man who became the oldest major winner at 50 is in turmoil after having widely criticized the PGA Tour then when remarks made against the Saudi regime were revealed, which he described as “murderer”.

The Californian left-hander had explained that he used LIV Invitational Series by Greg Norman to put pressure on the hegemonic American circuit.

Forced break

Phil Mickelson who was spotted on a course last week on the other hand, has not appeared in tournaments since the very controversial Saudi International beginning of February since following these revelations he had announced that he wanted to take a step back.
