It would really be a first class football fairy tale…
England Traditions Club Nottingham Forest faces potential promotion to the Premier League. It would be the return after 23 painful years in the second and third division.
That Nottingham even has the chance to do so is a miracle. Because the start of the season was a disaster. After the 7th day of play, the “Tricky Trees” were in last place after six bankruptcies and one draw. Coach Christ Hughton (63) was fired, Steve Cooper (42) took over.
Now Nottingham are third, secured a place in the promotion playoffs (places third through sixth determine third climber).
Review: Nottingham Forest was once a big name in English football and Europe. The club won the English Cup in 1879. The greatest triumphs, however, come from the 1970s: in 1978/79 (1-0 in the final against Malmö FF) and 1979/80 (1-0 against HSV), the English team won the European Cup twice.

Nottingham crashed into the second division in the 1998/99 season, from 2005 to 2008 the traditional club even crouched around in the third division First Division.
But now Nottingham can advance from last place on Matchday 7 to the Premier League for the first time in this century. It would be a first class football fairy tale.
