Nintendo Switch Sports arrives with every intention of getting you in shape

In 2006, the whole world discovered that anyone could play video game, no matter your age or previous experience, when Wii invited us to leave the sofa and get up to play tennis, bowling or boxing with family and friends in the living room. So revolutionary then, the idea of play a video game with the simple movement of your handended the sedentary vision of video games and made ‘Wii Sports’ conquer a whopping 82.9 million homes.

now it launches ‘Switch Sports’, the latest installment in the saga, which takes advantage of Joy-Con controller technology to make playing games using the real movement of your body more fun. Get ready to play literally six different sports with whomever you want.

‘Switch Sports’ includes six match activities: tennis, bowling, chambara (swords), volleyball, badminton and soccer. In tennis (1-4 players), grab the Joy-Con and swing it like a racket at just the right time to launch the ball. In bowling, challenge your friends to a tournament, or take on others online in matches of up to 16 players. You can also take part in solo challenges where you’ll have to dodge moving obstacles, roll the ball across narrow surfaces, and more.

Chambara (1-2 players) is an entertaining game of swords in which you will have to throw the opponent off the platform so that it falls into the water below. You can choose between three types of weapons, each with their own characteristics, such as twin swords, which involve using both Joy-Cons at the same time.

In volleyball (1-4 players), use the controller to remove, receive, place and finish the ball. If you raise your arms at the right time, you can block the opposing team’s shots and even fight back. In badminton (1-2 players), hold the controller like a racket, hit the shuttlecock and throw it left or right while trying not to hit the ground. You will be able to make powerful shots and sibylline drops to take advantage of the rival.

Finally, in soccer (1-8 players) you can play one-on-one or four-on-four matches. A free software update will be released this summer that will allow the leg strap to be used in matches as well. Also, another free update in the fall will add golf as an additional sports discipline in the game.

You can play all these sports solo, but the real fun is gather friends in front of the TV, competing together on a single console. If circumstances don’t allow you to get together physically, don’t worry, you can also go online for both private multiplayer sessions and random opponents. The delivery introduces as a novelty the customization of the avatars, or “Sportsmates”.
