National Police trains hundreds of agents in handling tense situations

Paravia, Baní, the National Police integrated 100 new agents of that institution in the handling of tense situations and the way of differentiating the treatment with criminals and with citizens-

– With this group there are more than 300 agents, including superior officers, trained in the so-called verbal Judo to de-escalate tense situations.

In addition, the training program looks at how to deal with autistic people, or with mental deficiencies, progressive use of force, justification of their actions and the use of force, theft of vehicles by organized crime,

The training also focuses on how to deal with the community, the difference between dealing with criminals and dealing with citizens.

This new group of trained police officers is made up of 100 National Police officers, assigned to the South Central Regional Directorate, based in the municipality of Baní, Peravia province, and were trained in the “Modern Policing” program through which strengthened their knowledge in different effective techniques to control any type of situation that may arise during their preventive work in the streets.

On this occasion, Brigadier Generals Orison Olivence Minaya, deputy director general of the institution of order, and honorary director of the Police Education Institute (IPE), on behalf of Major General Eduardo Alberto Then, director general of the National Police, Claudio E González Moquete, PN, South Central Regional Director, and José Santana Morillo, PN, Central Director of Police Operations, opened the course at the Vaganiona Cinema Theater in this city of Baní

On his side, General Olivence Minaya, on behalf of Major General Alberto Then and his own, thanked the team of instructors of the New York Police for the important contribution to the process of strengthening the capacities of the police officers present in the course. “I am sure that (the instructors) are leaving many obligations that they have to come and put into practice that knowledge acquired so that you can be multipliers. On behalf of our Director General of the Police, Major General Eduardo Alberto Then, and my own, we thank you,” said the deputy police director.
Quality and professionalism
The training program “Modern Policing” (Modern Police), is part of the process of Transformation and Professionalization of the National Police, for which the participating agents received training in the so-called “Verbal Judo”, which consists of effective communication techniques in times of conflict, thus ensuring that the police can have control to de-escalate any type of tense situation.

Similarly, the content of the program will help the police to identify and treat people with autism, as well as those who suffer from mental problems, during an intervention in the streets.

Likewise, they will learn to maintain professionalism at all times when carrying out their work, adapt to changes depending on the situations presented in the performance of their duty, as well as manage stress at work and in their personal lives.

The training was conducted by members of the Board of Directors of the Empire International Group (EIG), an organization made up of active and retired police officers from New York City and the British Virgin Islands.

Among the instructors who gave the workshop to the members of this Regional Directorate, by the Empire International Group Modern Policing Organization, are Frederick Reyes, President of Empire International Group and Commander of the NYPD Narcotics Unit (RET); Randolph Hernandez Jr., Vice President of Empire International Group and Bronx NYPD Narcotics Officer; John Rhymer, 2nd Vice President of Empire International Group and Inspector Commander Regional Eastern Virgin Islands (RET); Henry Angeles, Treasurer of Empire International and NYPD Auto Crime Detective; and Sawill Quesada, Technology and Media Coordinator of Empire International Group.
