The national professional baseball academies announced the realization of a league in which all the young prospects of Panama, aged between 14 and 16, will participate.

The event, called the Panama Prospect Tournament, is scheduled for the months of September and October, and will be held at the Rod Carew National Stadium.

Recently, most of the professional baseball academies in Panama that belong to the Major League Baseball (MLB) Private Coaches Program (Partnership) met and formed the board of directors that will govern this event.

Ángel Méndez, from AB Prospect Academy, was elected as president; Vice President, Herman Montero, of Montero Prospect; treasurer, Juan José Ortega, from JJ Agency; secretary, Frank Terracina, of The Farm; and Anibal Reluz González, from Yaya Boys.

President Méndez pointed out that this league has the endorsement of the MLB Latin American Operations Office and that they have been allowed to include academies that are not part of the Partnership, so that everyone can have the opportunity to participate in a high performance tournament, with its best players.

Hermán Montero, vice president of the Panama Prospect Tournament, indicated that there are still pending meetings with other academies that wish to participate and that the game schedule may include moving some matches to other stadiums in the interior of the country.
