Miguel Corral seeks second medal in Judo

You already know what it’s like to be on the winner’s podium, and now that your school is the host, you want to climb one more time, but this time to the top. Miguel Ángel Corral, silver medalist in Mérida 2019, will defend the UACJ colors for the third time in judo at the National Universiade.

This Friday and Saturday, the judo competitions will be held in the gym of the Technological Institute of Ciudad Juárez.

“More than anything, all the preparation is ready, now what I try to do the most is work a little more in my head, try not to let my nerves dominate me, and try to prepare my mind for what is coming and continue with the work with which we have always followed”, declared Corral during the week.

Student of the tenth semester of Sports Training, Corral Campos, 22 years old, competes in the -55 kg category.

In 2021, the judoka from Juarez also won the silver medal at the National Judo Championship, which took place in Oaxtepec, Morelos.

“I feel very ready, very prepared, despite the pandemic and everything that happened, because we had the effort and discipline to continue training with the conditions we had. So, in a certain way, we don’t stop and we don’t relax so much,” Corral told the UACJ official website.

Miguel, like the rest of his colleagues, is pleased to know that they are hosting this event, in which they will receive more than 9,300 student-athletes.

“It is joy, because you are with your family, with your friends to support you. But obviously you also feel a bit of pressure from being at home and you don’t want to let your people down, your university.”

Finally, Corral Campo said that his goal is not only for him to get on the podium, but also for his teammates to accompany him and rise to the place of winners in each of the fights.
