Kobe Vleminckx runs the fastest Belgian 100m in 16 years in Dessau | Athletics

The personal best of the only 23-year-old Vleminckx has stood at 10.35 for more than two weeks. He went below that by one hundredth on Wednesday, despite a headwind of 0.2 meters per second. He thus ends up in ninth place in the Belgian ranking of all time.

It has been Erik Wijmeersch in 2006 since a Belgian ran so fast. For the European Championship in Munich in August, it has to be a bit faster: the limit is 10.16. 10.05 is needed for the World Cup in Eugene in July.

Rani Rosius also ran the 100 meters in Dessau, but she was anything but convincing. In the heats she clocked 11.54, in the final 11.57. Her personal best is 11.33.

Stijn Baeten could not break any pots in the 1,500 meters. He clocked 3’41″04, while his best time is 3’37″01.
