Kevon Looney: What Rudy Gobert and DeAndre Ayton must have been

Golden State Warriors is the first finalist of the Playoffs NBA 2022. The San Francisco franchise expects a rival from the cross between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics, after beating the Dallas Mavericks 4-1 on aggregate.

It is the sixth time Steve Kerr’s Warriors have reached the NBA Finals in the last eight years. The past two seasons did not succeed, among other things, due to the departure of Kevin Durant and the serious injuries suffered by Klay Thompson (who has played all the Finals since 2015).

The player who has attracted the most attention in the tie against the Mavs has been Stephen Curry (who has won the Magic Johnson award for MVP of the Western Conference Finals). However, if the key player in the series had to be mentioned, that would be without a doubt Kevon Looney.

The Warriors center has been a real dagger for Dallas since the start of the tie. Looney has achieved the best performances of his career in the duel against the Texas team, who have suffered like never before on the rebound due to his presence.

Gobert and Ayton, singled out

This does nothing more than point out the poor performances that Rudy Gobert (in the 1st round with the Utah Jazz) and DeAndre Ayton (in the Conference Semis with the Phoenix Suns) had against the Dallas Mavericks, of whom Kevon Looney has shown that they are very weak in the painting. The GSW center has averaged, at the end of the tie, 11 points and 11 rebounds per game, shooting 71% from the field.
