JO 2020 / Judo: Amandine Buchard in the -52 kg final, the medal is guaranteed!

The French Amandine Buchard qualified this Sunday for the final of the Tokyo Olympics judo tournament in the -52 kg category and could therefore bring the French team its first gold medal.

To clinch her ticket to the final, Buchard only needed 16 seconds to beat Switzerland’s Fabienne Kocher by ippon. She will fight for gold against the Japanese Uta Abe, her main rival in the category.

The world number 2 had already been expeditious before this semi-final. During her first fight, she beat Georgian Tatiana Levytska-Shukvani, who gave up on injury after a minute and when the Frenchwoman had already scored a waza-ari. In the quarters, she won by ippon on immobilization in less than a minute against the South Korean Da-sol Park.
