GL stands in solidarity with 21 murdered in Texas school

Tuesday’s MLB games were preceded by moments of silence and Major League Baseball issued a statement in the afternoon after At least 18 children and two adults were killed in a mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.. The GL statement said:

Our hearts are broken tonight. Major League Baseball mourns the families and friends of the victims of today’s senseless tragedy and all the people of Uvalde, Texas.”

An 18-year-old gunman was responsible for the deadliest shooting at a US elementary school since a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, in 2012.

The Uvalde shooting came just 10 days after a gunman killed 10 brown-skinned shoppers and workers in a racist attack at a supermarket in Buffalo, NY.

At Minute Maid Park in Houstonapproximately 300 miles east of Uvalde, the visiting Astros and Guardians from Cleveland, Ohio, held a moment of silence before their game.

The Rangers shared a similar sentiment via the Texas Rangers Foundation Twitter account, and a moment of silence was held before their game against the Angels at Angels Stadium in Anaheim.
