Gimont. Basketball: one more step for the Star

Basketball one more step for the Stars

“We’re in half… We’re in half…” With less than a minute left to play, the 300 or so supporters applaud their stars, who lead by 15 points ahead of Avrillé (Maine-et-Loire). Gimont has therefore won its ticket for the semi-final which they will play on neutral ground in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin against a team with a prestigious name in the world of ovality: the ASM (the Monferrand Sports Association). See you Saturday, May 21 at 5:15 p.m.

Sunday was the basketball party at the En-Pêtre gymnasium. In the morning, parents and young people had made an appointment to compete around the baskets. Before the meeting, the mayor of Gimont, Franck Villeneuve, congratulated Sandra’s U 13 for the title of Gers champion and presented their trainer with a set of flocked T-shirts with their title of champions.

It was in an atmosphere of great days that Alain Jardel, monument of Gers basketball (former coach of the French women’s team, former coach of Mirande, with whom he was 3 times champion of France), kicked off sending. The Stars were there: they offered a great show in an indescribable atmosphere. It must be said that their opponents lent themselves to the game, never letting go. “They were too strong,” said the opposing coach.

At the end of the match, captain Boudenne, who had not been able to play due to a sprain, thanked the supporters and managers for this magnificent season and congratulated Marie Leroy for her fine performances and her involvement since she will be leaving the club for professional reasons. “There is no doubt, Jessy Boudenne had fun, we will see her again against us in a Landes team.”

The evening ended in joy but all the same in moderation with a secret hope of winning the title of champions of France.
