French Open single player cash prize pool increased

After the last two years affected by Covid-19, the prize pool had shrunk, but this year the best players in both men’s and women’s singles will receive € 2.2 million. This is almost as much as the title holders received in 2019, when Raphael Nadal and Ashley Barthy earned 2.3 million euros.

The total cash prize in this year’s Roland Garros tournaments has reached 43.6 million euros, which is 6.8 percent more than in 2019, when the tournament was last held under normal conditions. In single-player championships, the money has increased by 1.43 percent.

There will also be a larger prize pool for tennis players who play in qualifiers and first-round matches, which the organizers explain is in this way providing support to the athletes most affected by the pandemic.

Participants in the doubles tournament will also earn 6.1 percent more. The winners will receive 580 thousand euros.

The champions of mixed doubles will earn 122 thousand, while in all tournaments with the participation of wheelchair riders the amounts will be the same.
