‘Finally clarity about the future of transfer-free Go Ahead goalkeeper Noppert’

After a long time, there is clarity about Andries Noppert’s future. The 28-year-old goalkeeper will continue his career at sc Heerenveen, the Leeuwarder Courant knows. With this he goes after trainer Kees van Wonderen.

Noppert has an expiring contract with Go Ahead Eagles, which he will not extend. Several clubs were interested in the tall goalkeeper, including FC Utrecht, SC Cambuur and Heerenveen. However, the choice fell on the latter club, where Noppert played in the youth academy.

Heerenveen was looking for a new keeper due to the imminent departure of Erwin Mulder. The Frisians wanted to innovate and they succeeded. In Heerenveen, Noppert will have to deal with Van Wonderen next season, with whom he now works at Go Ahead.

In a few days, Noppert will visit the Abe Lenstra Stadium, but then on behalf of his old employer. In that duel, the interests are great: Heerenveen and Go Ahead are both still in the race for a play-off ticket.
