The super-teen would certainly have hoped for something different!
On January 31, Paul Wanner (16) signed his new contract with FC Bayern – with the prospect of training and playing time with the pros.
After the established championship, Julian Nagelsmann (34) had given the talents hope for assignments.
The coach said at the end of April: “I still see a chance for many young talents to get a little more playing time.”
That didn’t happen because of the Mainz bankruptcy (1: 3), in which Wanner wasn’t even there, and the public pressure after the Ibiza trip. Also because of the discussion about the impending distortion of competition against Stuttgart (2: 2), the coach always had to bring his best eleven.
Bitter for Wanner!
Because in the last three and a half months after his signature, the midfield talent only got three (!) minutes in Fürth (4: 1). Nine times he was on the bench without being used, seven times he was not in the squad.
Especially in the games against Mainz (played in the U19s instead) and Stuttgart (2:2, in the stands, but at the bowl party), Wanner was not there after the championship was established. Especially after his first assignment in January, everyone had expected more Wanner playing time…
