Jörn Stermann-Sinsilewski and Volker Degenhart returned from Rijeka (Croatia) proudly and decorated with bronze medals. The martial arts duo from the 1st Budo Club Eschweiler came third at the European Championships in the judo form Kime-no-kata in the age group up to 46 years. After the two won gold five years ago, they brought international recognition to the kata base in Eschweiler again. Stermann-Sinsilewski and Degenhart coped well with the adversities at the European Championships with constant corona tests and a quarantine bubble for all athletes. After fourth place in the preliminary round, the decision was only half a point away from the silver medal. “They did an excellent job,” praised Sebastian Frey, kata referee for the German Judo Federation.
