Emerging young talents in Mulhouse

500 male and female players gathered in Mulhouse for the French Youth badminton championships.

Four days, 20 tables and more than 500 participants: the French Youth badminton championships packed Mulhouse. It was on Alsatian soil that Elisa Hess (ASLB Kembs) once again shone with the Benjamines. In women’s singles, and almost at home, the young player from Kembs flew over the final against Emma Pognante (Grenoble Alpes Badminton). She reiterates in women’s doubles, alongside Jeanne Raffin (Vga Stella Saint Maur). Among the boys, Lenny Hubert (Bad Club du Pays de Fougeres) had no doubts. The Breton took over Léon Phan, seeded 2. The youngest did not stop there, since he also became French champion in men’s doubles, with Adren Houtin (B.club Guichen-Bourg des Comptes). In mixed, Hess and Hubert teamed up to win and thus achieve a magnificent hat-trick.

Among the minimum, Léana Laurent, seeded 1, dominates Lily Gautier in three rounds. For his part, the Hem Badminton player, Nathan Nguyen, took gold in men’s singles, where he won against Arthur Tatranov, and silver in mixed. With his partner Eva Bouville (BC Chambly Oise), they lost in 3 sets against Lubin Le Floc’h and Mélia Beule (Ailes Sportives Bouguenais Rezé / Orvault Badminton Club), the new minimal French champions (21/17 17 /21 12/21). In addition to her silver medal in women’s singles, Lily Gautier (AL Badminton Club Briochin) won gold in women’s doubles, with her partner Monitosita Touch (Sénart Badminton). Finally, the favorite men’s doubles, Arthur Tatranov and Thomas Tournefier (Badminton Val De Morteau / Le Cellier Ligné Union Badminton), is crowned champion of France minimal.

As for the cadets, Tom Lalot Trescarte (Club de Badminton Seine Essonne) hit hard. Favorite in the men’s singles final, he took the top step of the podium. He continues with the title in men’s doubles, alongside his teammate at Badminton Seine Essonne, Nicolas Fouquet. The cadets, seeded 2, led the final from start to finish. On the women’s doubles side, the seeds of 1, Clémence Gaudreau and Elsa Jacob (Badminton Club Oullins / Badminton Club Fos), are logically crowned champions of France cadets. Finally, Tom Lalot Trescarte and Elsa Jacob went for a last title, in mixed.

Finally, among the juniors, Simon Baron-Vezilier (Badminton Club Oullins) deprives Arthur Wakhevitsch of a double (Blagnac Badminton Club) in singles. The 2021 French cadet champion did not find the solution against the Oullins player, who leaves Mulhouse with the gold. In women’s singles, Alicia Huynh (Club Bad. Aulnay Sous Bois) beat the favorite, Marie Cesari (Badminton Val De Morteau). The local men’s doubles, Titouan Hoareau / Kimi Lovang (Asptt Strasbourg / Red Star Mulhouse) fails against the pair Begga / Labarthe (Asptt Strasbourg / Flume Ille Badminton), climbs on the first step of the podium. The mix made up of Lucas Renoir and Téa Margueritte (Bayard Argentan Badminton / Badminton Val De Reuil Louviers) recently silver medalist at the Gymnasiade 2022, is adorned with gold at the French Youth Championships.
