Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson, who was on the COVID DL, has been moved to the 10-day DL retroactive to May 24 due to inflammation in his right shoulder. .

Donaldson, 36, was acquired by New York in a trade with the Minnesota Twins in March. In 37 games this season, the veteran is hitting .238/.349/.415 with five homers and 15 RBIs.

Donaldson recently apologized to the wife and family of Jackie Robinson for using the name of the Hall of Famer who broke barriers in reference to Tim Anderson last week, saying that Robinson “was a true American hero” and that holds his name “in the highest esteem.”

Donaldson issued his apology as part of a statement to MLB.com on Thursday, three days after he was suspended one game by Major League Baseball for his “inappropriate comments” to Anderson the previous weekend.
