1860 München-Coach Michael Köllner about her opponent in the DFB-Pokal Borussia Dortmund: “It’s a bit of a paradox, we secured qualification for the DFB Cup against Borussia Dortmund’s second team in order to play against the first team. This is an extremely difficult draw. We will prepare meticulously for this game and do our best. We hope that our fans in the Grünwalder Stadion will be able to enjoy another magical cup day or cup night.”

The really big opponent stayed for Unit Wernigerode out. Goalkeeper André Helmstedt comments on opponents in an MDR interview SC Paderborn: “It was a bit unfortunate. If you’re already playing in the first round of the DFB Cup, then it really has to be Dortmund or Bayern. We have to accept that and then eliminate Paderborn.”

How did the draw go?

The game pairings of the first round in the DFB Cup were drawn from two containers. The balls of the teams from the Bundesliga and 2nd division were in the first pot, those of the amateur teams in the other pot. However: The 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th of the past second division season and those promoted to the second division end up in the amateur pot. This meant that there were 32 balls in each of the two pots.

In the draw, one ticket was drawn first from the amateur container and then from the other container. The team drawn first has home advantage.
