As the Blues also announce, Boehly and his partners are initially investing the equivalent of 2.93 billion euros to buy the club. Another 2.05 billion euros will be made available for further investments by the club. The total volume of the deal is around five billion euros.

Most notably, Boehly made a name for himself in the sports world as co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball franchise. The businessman tried to buy Chelsea back in 2019, but ex-owner Roman Abramovich refused at the time. As part of the sanctions against the Russian oligarch, Chelsea was recently put up for sale by the British government – an opportunity that Boehly and his comrades-in-arms did not miss.
