Carlos Alcaraz beat Cameron Norrie and defend Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals in Madrid

The long-awaited generational duel will take place in Madrid. Carlos Alcaraz (9th) will find his compatriot Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals, after his victory against Cameron Norrie (11th) in three sets (6-4, 6-7 [4]6-3) and 2h41.

Quickly taking his opponent’s serve, the Spaniard set the pace for the first set. He mastered the game before being unbreaked while serving for the set. A brief doubt since the 19-year-old concluded the round in the next game. Cameron Norrie did not relax, however. The second set is the scene of a standoff between the two which ended in a tie-break and which turned to the advantage of the Briton.

This conceded set did not kill Alcaraz, however. He breaks Norrie at the start of the third set. From there, he serenely assured his serve before breaking and making his first match point a reality.
