Caleb Ewan says he is satisfied with his level of form. In the Tour of Turkey he won at least two stages towards this Giro.
“Whether I immediately get a golden chance at a stage win and the pink jersey on Friday? I wouldn’t say that”, Ewan kept the pressure off somewhat.
“The final may be too difficult for me, although it is not impossible either. I will certainly try.”
“I don’t know if this is my best form, but the preparation has gone well after my illness around Milan-Sanremo.”
Ewan already won 5 stages in Italy, but never made it to the finish line. That will not happen this year either.
“No, I will ride the Tour later and will not finish the Giro. It is very difficult for a sprinter to recover after such a final week. It would be a mistake to finish and then go to the Tour. “
When will Ewan get off? “I don’t know yet, but I won’t be there in the last week. If I suffer, it will be time to stop.”
Ewan – as he says himself – does not experience any extra pressure due to the precarious WorldTour situation of his employer. “Honestly: I don’t feel any pressure. I put a lot of pressure on myself anyway and I want to win as much as possible. That is the case every season.”
“When will I be satisfied after this Giro? If I am the fastest sprinter and win 1 stage, then I will not be satisfied. If I am not the strongest sprinter and win 1 stage, then I will.”
