BUF starts on Saturday: Germany’s best runners compete at the Bottrop Ultralauf Festival

The Bottrop Ultra Run Festival (BUF) can finally take place again this year: The two-day event starts on Saturday, May 14th.

Until 2019, the event was held in Batenbrock Park. Due to the renovation work taking place there, the new running track had to be relocated to Prosper Park. In cooperation with the district management on site, the “Red Square” can be integrated as the venue for the event.

The event will feature a six-hour run, a 24-hour run and a 24-hour relay. The mayor and patron of the event, Bernd Tischler, gives the starting signal on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The 24-hour run will take place again this year as the “German Championship” in this discipline. Due to the strong field, those responsible are assuming a winner who can run around 250 kilometers.

Registrations only possible on Saturday

From now on, registrations are only possible on the day of the event. However, only members with valid starting rights for a club or a running community in the DLV association area who are in possession of German nationality are admitted to the “German Championship”. Anyone who still wants to run can do so in the open classification of the BMW Felix 24-hour run.

After the finish line closes on Sunday, children up to the age of twelve can still enjoy the feeling of competition. At the Möbel Beyhoff children’s run, they can compete in a small lap.

Catering will be provided at the event location “Red Square”. Thomas Göddertz (Member of the Landtag) will also spin the sausages at the grill on Sunday.
