Bidaideak Bilbao, champion of the Copa del Rey wheelchair basketball

Bidaideak Bilbao conquered this Sunday the first Copa del Rey wheelchair basketball in its history by beating ACE Gran Canaria in an unprecedented final (72-67), in which David Mouriz stood out, registering 25 points and seven three-pointers to the basque set.

Bidaideak Bilbao reached the final played at the Carranque sports center in Malaga after getting rid of the king of Cups, Ilunion, winner 19 times, in the quarterfinals and Mideba Extremadura, League runner-up, in the semifinals.

The Canarian team, meanwhile, reached the decisive match after eliminating the hosts, Amivel, in the quarterfinals, and the great favorite, Amiab Albacete, champion of the League and Eurocup 1 this year, in the semifinals.

In the final the game was very even, although Bidaideak Bilbao dominated the scoreboard until the end of the third quarter with a maximum advantage of twelve points, an income that allowed the Canarian team to continue with options, which greatly improved their offensive performance in the decisive moment coming to even the contest with 1:50 to go.

The success of Txema Avendaño in the final moments, with four points in a row, allowed Bidaideak to get back in front and secure a victory that is the first in its history in the Copa del Rey, a competition in which they were runners-up in 2019.
