– Olympic sets the record straight against the Lions
The Fribourgeois blew up the Genevans in the second half on Tuesday and equalized at 1-1 in the play-off semi-final. Act III Friday.
Andrej Stimac dreaded him. In the corridors of the hall of Saint-Léonard, Saturday, after the surprise victory for the Geneva Lions During Act I of the 100% Romande semi-final of the SB League play-off, the coach at the end of the lake predicted the proud reaction of Friborg Olympic for match 2 on Tuesday. It was violent since the champion equalized in the series (1-1) by winning very largely (81-53).
Jordan relapses
Anxious to demonstrate from the first possessions that last weekend’s evening was nothing but an accident, the locals made it a point of honor to attack this part with the defensive intensity that we know from them. On their first two attacks, the Genevans, harassed, lost the ball twice. But thanks to their Swiss, Thomas Jurkovitz and Brandon Kuba, the Lions deceived the space of a quarter (23-17).
Best Olympic player in the first two games of the series, Slobodan Miljanic suffered his third personal foul, just after the relapse of Davonta Jordan (calf), which may have mortgaged his chances of replaying this season. But Boris Mbala, impeccable at mid-distance when he first starts dribbling on his right side, and Arnaud Cotture behind the arc achieved a significant first gap (39-22).
Muzzled Suggestions
A good passage from Dragan Zekovic allowed the Lions to nibble a bit of their delay (44-33) but as soon as they returned from the locker room, after half-time, Friborg added a layer with an 8-0 (52-35 ). Well defended by Boris Mbala, Geneva’s top scorer Scott Suggs only scored his first points in the 27th minute. Untenable on the offensive rebound, Cotture ignited the end of the 3rd quarter and increased the score (62-41).
After 30 minutes, Andrej Stimac, sitting on his bench, understood. His Lions, physically burned after 20 minutes, finally lost 81-53. In the little game of matches every three days, it is really not sure that the short Geneva rotation gets away with it. Friday, in Geneva, it will already be necessary to return to combat against the Friborg armada. And it recalled, Tuesday, who was the defending champion.
