Reiichi Matsunaga, who led the Japanese national team to the gold medal in baseball, which was a public competition at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, died on the 12th due to senility. He is 90 years old. Born in Kitakyushu. He will perform his family funeral at a later date.

Played as an infielder at Hosei University in Fukuoka / Yawata High School. He has been the director of Hosei University since 1965 after supervising Hosei Ichiko (currently Hosei High School) and Horikoshi High School (both in Tokyo). He won the Tokyo Big6 Baseball League six times and raised Koji Yamamoto and Koichi Tabuchi, who were active as strong hitters in professional baseball.

He has led Sumitomo Metals since 1971 and won the Japan Championship twice. In addition to important positions in the amateur ball world, he has served as the head of the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) player strengthening headquarters. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.
