Salaryman’s Club

Mikoto Shiratori was a badminton prodigy until a certain defeat in his student days sank him to such an extent that he never managed to overcome it to dedicate himself to the sport professionally. Today he plays badminto with his company’s team, whose team is number one, but when he gets fired, it seems his career is over…until Sunlight Beverage offers him a job as an employee and player. Unfortunately for him, the team is pretty mediocre in his opinion and they also want him to do something he hates: play doubles.

Work and sport (by Corj)

Sport is a fairly recurring theme in the world of manga and anime. There are countless stories that have made us vibrate even with disciplines that we have barely practiced or with which we have not even had contact. However, it is very easy to put yourself in the shoes of the characters of this type of series, as long as they are well managed. With Salaryman’s Clubthe study Liden Films put us back behind Hanebado! in the world of badminton, a sport that, to a greater or lesser extent, almost everyone has practiced at some point.

Salaryman’s Club It is not the first approach to badminton in anime, nor will it be the last. But on this occasion, it is given a little twist, since instead of its protagonists being future promises who play while they study or elite athletes, here we find players who practice corporate sport. That is, they are part of your company’s team.

Thanks to this, the series does not focus solely and exclusively on showing training after training, and game after game, but we also see how Mikoto Shiratori, Tatsuru Miyazumi and the rest of his colleagues have to face different challenges also in the workplace. This is something that does different to Salaryman’s Club of the vast majority of spokon. And it is that, despite the fact that it contains all the points that any series on sports should have, it delves beyond the practice of it. Of course, the emotion that the matches manage to transmit is unmatched with the rest of the development of the series.

And if that was not enough, Liden Films use everything you learned with Hanebado! (another excellent series at all levels) to take a step further. The series has a more than remarkable technical section, where watching the badminton matches is a delight. The poses, the movements of the characters, the steering wheel…, everything is perfectly recreated. And not only does the visual section stand out, but the sound is also a delight. The blows, the squeak of the shoes rubbing against the track…, everything sounds spectacular.

Salaryman’s Club It is a series that will delight Spokon fans and even other types of viewers. Perhaps the only negative point that I could give him is that he tiptoes through some of the games or even sometimes skips them, thus losing some epicity. It may have been good for the development of the series to have had a few more episodes. For the rest, I personally loved it and I hope that they are already preparing a second season.

From the track to the office (by Brook SK)

In no season of anime can a good sports series be missing and, although this title is not the most remarkable of all, it must be said that it is a series that shines for the twist it offers so as not to be just another series. As happened with Bakuten !!this time we are faced with a new totally original series created specifically for television.

Despite the fact that this series shares elements with many other well-known ones, it differs above all by the fact that it has characters that are not only dedicated to sports. In fact, we begin by getting to know their facet within the office where they work and later the competitive side is shown on the field of play. Because it is no longer just a team working, but outside the office they continue to be, but in another field in which they will have to collaborate and put themselves to the test to compete either alone or together with other colleagues.

The good thing about this series is the variety of characters as they are not all the same age and do not belong to the same place. Perhaps it does need to balance the parts of work with sports a little more, but for the moment it is a quite entertaining series that gets you hooked. It has all kinds of moments that make it very enjoyable, since it doesn’t just focus on fun and more serious situations in each one’s work and personal environment, but also gets very exciting in the parts of the matches.

In addition to this, and more specifically of the matches and the training scenes, you have to admire the work he has done Liden Films with some designs and a technique that is worthy of admiration. It must be recognized that within the series there is everything, but one of the things that attract the most attention are the parts of the plays they make. How they observe their rivals, the movements they make and the way they play in a sport that is not as well known in terms of repercussion, but it is a sport that fans of the spokon will surely like a lot.

I think that really anyone can enjoy this series that for now only has one season and hopefully it will be renewed. Perhaps what I would have liked to see more is a little more depth, not only in the characters but also in the sports environment and its evolution, because many games are not shown complete or are skipped and that is a fundamental part of this type of series. to keep the viewers interested. However, the humor that it has in its development makes you have a great time together with a soundtrack that does not stand out but does not disappoint either.
