3rd league in danger: 900,000 euros are missing – BFC Dynamo is shaking

Actually, the BFC Dynamo is as good as a champion before the last matchday in the Regionalliga Nordost. But promotion to the 3rd division seems to be in serious jeopardy.

Three points and 13 goals: that’s the lead of the BFC Dynamo before the FC Carl Zeiss Jena. There is still one game to go in the Regionalliga Nordost. As a champion, the Berlin cult club would be a participant in the promotion games – probably against VfB Oldenburgwho is about to win the championship in the Regionalliga Nord – that’s a fact.

But suddenly there are money worries at Dynamo. The BFC must deposit a guarantee of 900,000 euros with the German Football Association (DFB) in Frankfurt, otherwise the club threatens to lose the right to play in the 3rd division. BFC Dynamo, coached by Christian Benbennek, is said to have had time for this until June 1st. This is reported by the “MDR”.

It is believed in Frankfurt that the personnel budget alone would have to be increased in order to stay in the class or if there is a change of coach. They therefore extrapolate the personnel costs over twelve months.

BFC-Boss Peter Meyer

BFC Economic Council boss Peter Meyer told the “Berliner Zeitung”: “Our budget is covered, but of course very tightly knitted. We have no reserves. In Frankfurt, people believe that the personnel budget alone should be set higher in order to be in the class to stay or if there is a change of coach. They therefore extrapolate the personnel costs over twelve months.” According to the “Berliner Zeitung” and the “MDR”, the BFC is now hoping for new sponsorship contracts and is relying on the help of the fans.

The promotion games between the Regionalliga Nordost and Regionalliga Nord champions are scheduled for May 28 (first leg) and June 4 (second leg).

Should BFC Dynamo not raise the 900,000 euros by June 1st, the champions of the Regionalliga Nord, probably VfB Oldenburg, would move into the 3rd division without a fight. According to an MDR report, Carl Zeiss Jena, which has received the third division license with feasible conditions, should not be able to move up in this case.
