With flaws in defense and lack of clarity in attack, Gymnastics lost 3 to 1 against Sarmiento in the Forest

Hard defeat in the Forest: Gimnasia, with a very weak production, lost 3 to 1 against Sarmiento in the Juan Carmelo Zerillo stadium. El Lobo showed serious shortcomings in the background and missed an important opportunity to add at home, in the match that was valid for the tenth date of zone 1 of the Professional Football League Cup.

Gorosito’s team made mistakes that allowed the rival to hurt at key moments, which at first, showed a Gimnasia protagonist but without specifying the possibilities that were presented to him. With the score down he was not only helpless, but he continued to fail on defense.

Those of Damonte did not forgive. First an error in Enrique’s start, then a mistake by Piris. Although the defense -except for Morales, who was the most regular- did not provide security, Rodrigo Rey did not have a good game either and this time he did not save the potatoes.

Given the impotence of the result, Gorosito sent Carbonero and Benjamín Domínguez, this being the key to the rebellion that the team needed, although it was not enough. In general, he did not find the paths, he lacked clarity and he paid dearly for his mistakes that aroused new criticism of the cycle.

The defeat not only hit the team emotionally, but also complicated the classification considering that Sarmiento now has 17 points, got into the fight for fourth place, and left Gorosito’s team with 12 points and three dates to go, it seems everything uphill. Lobo’s next commitment will be on Tuesday, April 19 against Platense as a visitor.

THE FINAL COMMENT FROM 60 AND 118

BEST MOMENTS

El Lobo took over the leading role and was the one who took the initiative in the match, although Sarmiento quickly played blow for blow. The Tripero team handled the ball but was not clear in the last quarter of the pitch, the clearest being a shot by Cristian Tarragona that missed near the rival’s right post.

Verde’s first “pineapple” came at ’38: after an erroneous start by Guillermo Enrique, Arismendi took advantage of the rebound after the ball hit the crossbar against Núñez’s shot and opened the scoring to the surprise of all the fans triperos.

At 42 minutes another error in Gimnasia’s defense allowed the visit to increase the score. This time Óscar Piris lost it and Gondou crossed his shot to beat Rey and extend the advantage that until then seemed exaggerated, especially due to the situations created by Gorosito’s team.

Despite the weak performances of some players, Gimnasia started the complement without variants. The trend was the same and Sarmiento was encouraged to create danger in Rey’s goal, so Gorosito -annoyed by the walk- decided to get his hands on it.

In this way there was a double change in the Wolf: at 12 minutes Muro and Soldano left, so that Carbonero and Domínguez could enter.

The modifications were good for the striker who went in search of the tie. At minute 25, Josué Ayala contained a shot from outside the Tarragona area.

At 27 the albiazul discount would arrive: after a good play on the right by Benjamín Domínguez, the kid perked up, finished -with the intention of a low center- and a deflection in Andueza allowed Gimnasia to get within a shot of equality

At 33 minutes the referee Yael Falcón Pérez decided to expel Rasmussen but at the request of the VAR he changed his decision and he was only reprimanded.

At 41 minutes, Tarragona had a chance to equalize after a good pass from Piris, but the left-footed shot went just wide.

The local went with everything for the tie but in a new one against Paradela it overflowed from the left and Mainero entered the race to finish off strong, put in the third and settle the lawsuit.

Before the match, the Lobo players jumped onto the playing field with a T-shirt accompanying the request for justice for Gian Luca Arcuri, the hockey player who was run over and killed in Ensenada. There was also a minute of silence for the death of Julio “Chachi” Alonso.

It should be noted that although qualifying for the next phase is a complex mission -not impossible- Gymnastics in the last stage of the fixture will have two direct rivals who are fighting to get into the next round: they are Unión and Newell’s, both will be played in 60 and 118.
