It will cost Team Skælskør-Slagelse that the badminton team has canceled the DM bronze match on 7 May against Vendsyssel.

In a press release, Badminton Denmark states that the Team Tournament Committee has sentenced Team Skælskør-Slagelse to the maximum penalty for the cancellation and at the same time forwarded the case to the Disciplinary Committee.

It was financial difficulties that caused Team Skælskør-Slagelse to cancel the match, and it is, among other things, also financial that the team is sanctioned.

Team Skælskør-Slagelse has, among others, the strong women’s singles player Mia Blichfeldt on the team.

The team from Zealand has been fined 3,000 kroner for canceling the bronze match, where the team is also condemned to lose 0-9.

Team Skælskør-Slagelse receives an additional fine of DKK 2,000 for a ‘non-present player’ in the semi-final against Højbjerg. It also costs the team a points penalty of minus three points, which will take effect from the start of next season.

According to Badminton Denmark, it was the harshest punishment that the Team Tournament Committee could give in relation to the framework of the regulations.

The team tournament committee believes that Team Skælskør-Slagelse has brought the game into disrepute with the cancellation.

It is for this reason that the case has also been forwarded to the Disciplinary Committee, which can sanction Team Skælskør-Slagelse further.

Team Skælskør-Slagelse has the option of appealing the penalty from the Team Tournament Committee to the Disciplinary Committee.
