“We have PSG in the back of our minds, but we must not minimize the result”, slips Bakambu

The Marseille striker looks back on qualifying for the C4 semi-finals this Thursday in Greece.

Cédric Bakambu (OM striker, qualified for the semi-finals of the Europa League Conference ) : «Mandanda has always been a great goalkeeper, he showed it again tonight. He put in a great performance, with a new “clean sheet” as a result. We must congratulate the whole team but special mention to him, he has come out of it quite a bit. We expected this start to the match, we knew we were going to suffer a big first quarter of an hour. We knew there would be a fairly hostile atmosphere. We made the round back then we put our game in place. Then we were better in the match, which allowed us to win this match. We celebrated that, we were super happy. We must not minimize, it remains a European Cup. We are two games away from the final, we hope we can go all the way. It’s an opportunity, this cup, from the start of the competition, the coach and the president told us.

It’s still a European Cup, there are big atmospheres. Tonight, this audience surprised me. Matches during the week are a bit double or nothing, it puts you in a good dynamic or the opposite. For us, it energizes our end of the season. Feyenoord (opponent of OM in the semi-finals on April 28 and May 5) is a big name. We will savor, we will think of them when the time is right. We have PSG in the back of our minds. But today’s result should not be minimized. You have to know how to savor, we will get back to work afterwards. And anything is possible, it’s football. We will do our best to get them.»
