The US aviation authority apologizes for the evacuation of the Capitol after the parachute show

The US Aviation Authority acknowledged it lost contact with the Capitol Police in Washington this week. The organization had not informed the police of a parachuting show in progress Wednesday it took place in a baseball stadium near the parliament building. A plane flown over by competition jumpers was therefore perceived as a threat, after which the police evacuated the Capitol.

“We are deeply sorry we contributed to the evacuation of the Capitol,” the FAA said in a statement. “We apologize for the inconvenience and the fear that those who work there have consequently felt”.

The aviation authority promises to take immediate action to avoid “confusion about future aviation events” in Washington.
