Several potential national team leaders will not go to France. Rodrigo Ābols, Miks Indrašis, Ronalds Ķēniņš, Artūrs Kulda, Kārlis Čukste, Rihards Bukarts, Jānis Jaks, Kristaps Zīle, Renārs Krastenbergs and Andris Džeriņš will remain and train in Riga.

Both Latvian and French national team matches will start on Thursday and Friday at 21:00 Latvian time. The second game, which will take place on April 22, will be broadcast live on LTV7 and replay.lv.

The French national team, both of which will feature mostly domestic club hockey players, will also include student sports teams from Switzerland, Finland, Norway, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and the United States.

In preparation for the championship, there will be six test matches for the team led by Vītoliņš – there will also be two matches against Switzerland on April 30 and May 1, and on May 8 and 9, the hosts of Arena Riga will play against Kazakhstan. The Latvian national team will go to the world championship on May 11.

The World Cup in Finland will take place from 13 to 29 May. The Latvian national team will have to meet with the national teams of the USA, Finland, Norway, the Czech Republic, Austria, Great Britain and Sweden.
